Capri Blue Volcano candle dupes
Volcano is the scent that made Anthropologie's candle shelf famous: sugared grapefruit and orange over a sweet tropical base. It is also the candle people most want to find cheaper. The good news is that two big-box store brands get shockingly close for far less.
Side-by-side Volcano comparisons are basically their own corner of the internet, and the verdict is consistent. You do not need to pay Volcano prices to get that bright, sweet, citrus-sugar scent throw. Here are the three the community keeps naming.
The ranked shortlist
| Dupe | House | Match | Price | Burn time | The honest read |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Red Lava & Citrus | Better Homes & Gardens | 90 | — / 18oz | 45-50h | The most-cited match. Placed next to Volcano the sugared-citrus profile reads nearly identical. Sold at Walmart. |
| Island Moonlight Shop › | Opalhouse | 88 | see the current price on Amazon / 15oz | 40-45h | Currant, grapefruit and orange. Target shoppers repeatedly call it an exact Volcano match for far less. |
| Bali Sunrise Shop › | Opalhouse | 80 | see the current price on Amazon / 15oz | 40-45h | A brighter, slightly fruitier take on the same accord. Not quite as dead-on, still a great cheap pick. |
Which one should you buy?
- Want the closest match and shop at Walmart? Red Lava & Citrus. It is the one people hand to friends as a prank to see if they notice.
- Shop at Target? Island Moonlight is the pick, and it is often the cheaper of the two.
- Want a slightly fresher, fruitier spin? Bali Sunrise leans a touch brighter.
A word on the "official" versions
Capri Blue itself sells Volcano through Anthropologie and on Amazon, and some buyers say the Amazon jars throw a little weaker than the Anthropologie ones. If you want the real thing, buy it where the scent load is strongest. If you just want the smell in your living room, the store-brand dupes above do the job.
