Shark FlexStyle vs Dyson Airwrap: which is better?
These are the only two widely sold stylers that curl with Coanda airflow instead of a hot surface, so this is the one comparison in the category where both sides actually do the same thing. The Shark costs well under half what the Dyson Airwrap i.d. does. We don’t quote Amazon prices here; each Shop link shows the current price. What follows is what the difference buys, in both directions.

Buy the FlexStyle if you want the Airwrap curl and a hair dryer in one tool for a third of the money. Buy the Airwrap if weight, noise and the polish of the attachments matter to you every morning, or if you want the i.d. models’ app-set curl sequences. Nobody who has used both describes the curl itself as the reason to pay the difference.

Attachment lists change with every bundle on both sides; the machines underneath do not. Buy on the bundle that includes the pieces you will use, not the longest list.
Where the Dyson is better
Three things, and they are real. It is lighter and quieter, which you notice every single use. The attachments are better finished and click on with less fuss. And the Airwrap i.d. models can run a set curl sequence from the app — wrap, cool, release — so the result is repeatable without counting. If those are the things you would have noticed in the first week, they are worth the money to you.
Where the Shark is better
It converts into an ordinary hair dryer, so it replaces two tools. Shark rotates bundles constantly, so one of the three listings below is usually cheaper on the day. And the FlexStyle is the more forgiving tool for thick or long hair simply because you can dry with it before you wrap, which is what most Airwrap owners end up doing with a second device.

Does the FlexStyle damage hair like a curling iron?
No more than the Airwrap does: both style with warm airflow rather than a hot barrel. Neither is heat-free.
